JouleX is proud to be the inaugural recipient of the BT Green Economy Award for its enterprise energy management solution, JouleX Energy Manager. BT presented JouleX with the award during last week’s Success for Future Awards gala in Munich. The Success for Future Awards honor projects that promote sustainability and economic success in the world of tomorrow. JouleX is proud to support this initiative and is honored to have been chosen by the 17-member jury.
"Acting sustainably is a matter for all of us and has been a key part of BT's business strategy for the last 20 years. In initiating the Success for Future Award, we want to show that there are lots of fine examples of companies where sustainability and business success go hand in hand. The JouleX solution was a big hit with the jury and I am very pleased that we are able to award the BT Green Economy Award to a company which is a real game-changer in the area of sustainability and energy efficiency. We hope that the prize will also encourage other organizations and companies to get more closely involved with pioneering solutions,” explains BT Germany CEO Karsten Lereuth.
JouleX was chosen for pioneering a whole new approach to enterprise energy efficiency management. The company is dedicated to helping its enterprise clients optimize energy management and realize significant cost savings in the data center, distributed office, facilities and in their PC environments.
“The award shows that there is more and more interest in topics such as green IT and deploying sustainable solutions, from both the general public and from business organizations. An increasing number of companies are recognizing that protecting the environment and being successful in business are no longer incompatible – on the contrary, cutting rising energy consumption and effectively reducing costs requires ecological innovation,” explained JouleX co-founder and chief architect, Josef Brunner.

JouleX is proud to have been featured at Juniper’s 7th Annual Americas Partner Conference this week in Phoenix. Tom Noonan, JouleX CEO, and Kevin Johnson, Juniper CEO, shared the stage to show the ease at pulling energy consumption and utilization information from all network-connected devices and systems (particularly Juniper devices) and the ease at which it is possible by integrating through the Juniper Junos Space Software Development Kit (SDK).
Tom demonstrated how the JouleX Energy Manager (JEM) agentless technology acts as a virtual energy meter, and with it a company does not have to install smart meters or physical meters to retrieve energy data on IP-connected devices. JEM runs entirely as a network application and does not require agents or other software on any endpoint that is measured. To achieve this, JouleX has worked closely with manufacturers, such as Juniper to integrate with its newly released Junos Space SDK. Junos Space provides energy data to the JouleX Energy Manager. The energy data reported by Junos Space can be easily integrated with other device energy data.
With JEM, you can view energy information in context to your business:
- By application
- By facility or location
- By rack in a datacenter
- By make or model of device
- By organization or business unit
- Or a variety of other means
Juniper’s rich set of services with Junos Space SDK allows JEM to quickly integrate and collect energy information in a matter of minutes. Just by adding the Junos Space Asset Connector, JEM immediately begins monitoring the energy on any device being managed by Junos Space.
The ability to view energy is important to our customers. The integration of Junos Space SDK and JEM allows our joint customers to closely monitor energy in the datacenter and throughout their enterprise networks - giving them the ability to better manage their procurement processes and achieve corporate sustainability goals.
