With proven track records in enterprise energy management in both Europe and North America, we’re now extending our global reach over the Pacific. We’re excited to announce today the opening our newest office in Tokyo, Japan.
Japan’s growing IT infrastructure coupled with the lasting effects of the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake and new power consumption regulations have created a sense of urgency among Japanese enterprises to grasp and strategically manage their total energy usage. And, while JouleX Energy Manager (JEM) products will certainly be able to help companies negotiate the new landscape of power consumption in their country, we wanted our efforts to take on a larger role. As part of what we feel is our bigger corporate responsibility, we are also donating 30 percent of our profits from the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012, to the Japanese Red Cross relief efforts for the earthquake victims.
The Tokyo office will be in the very capable hands of one of our long-time colleagues. Ja Hong Lin has been named vice president in charge of the company’s Asia-Pacific operations and president and CEO of JouleX K.K., a subsidiary of JouleX.
It is with a heavy heart that we enter this market. We look forward to doing our part to help alleviate the strain of the energy crisis one enterprise at a time.

We are starting off the week with much enthusiasm around the hallways here at JouleX as we have reached another milestone. We are proud to share that JouleX has been named a “Cool Vendor” in the “Cool Vendors in Green IT and Sustainability, 2011”[i] report by Gartner, Inc. This report highlights companies that develop “technologies and services that enable organizations to improve agility and business performance by pursuing sustainability strategies.” There are only a handful of companies that make it into this report, and inclusion is certainly a distinguished honor and acknowledgement of the success we are having in helping our customers reach their energy reduction and sustainability goals.
According to Gartner, “There has been a shift away from tools that singularly consider the reporting or analysis of carbon toward technologies that visualize and more efficiently manage energy, and provide more holistic analysis of sustainable performance and asset management. Midsize to large organizations should be developing a more integrated approach to energy management across all major energy-consuming classes of assets.”[ii]
“We consider our inclusion in the Cool Vendor report by Gartner confirmation of our mission to enable enterprises to automate energy management and drive energy efficiency from the core to the edge of their networks,” said Tom Noonan, president and CEO at JouleX. “Companies are struggling to understand their energy consumption—and waste—as they look to minimize the effect of rising energy costs, trim operating expenses, optimize resources and reduce their carbon footprints. We will continue to innovate and evolve our product to address these issues and to solve specific energy management challenges in data centers, distributed office environments, and facilities.”

JouleX is proud to share that the Red Herring editorial team as has named JouleX as a finalist for the 2011 Red Herring Top 100 North America Award in the CleanTech category. The finalists selected represent “the most innovative companies from a pool of hundreds from across North America.” To make it into the finalist circle, we were evaluated on a number of quantitative and qualitative criteria, including financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy, and disruption into our respective industry. We met with the members from the nomination committee a while back to share with all of this, and received great response to what we have accomplished in a little over a year and the impact we are making in helping companies meet their sustainability and energy cost reduction goals .
"This year was very rewarding," said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. "The global economic situation has abated and there are many great companies producing really innovative and amazing products. We had a very difficult time narrowing the pool and selecting the finalists. Now we're faced with the difficult task of selecting the Top 100 winners of Red Herring North America. We know that the 2011 crop will grow into some amazing companies that are sure to make an impact."
As part of the decision process, our CEO Tom Noonan will be giving a live presentation at the Red Herring North America Forum in Hollywood, California, taking place June 13-15 where the winners will be announced at a special awards dinner on June 15. We are proud and honored of this accomplishment.
