Tom Noonan Steps Into CEO Role at Green IT Start-up

Successful Entrepreneur and Executive to Lead JouleX, Heralding in the Next Generation of Energy Management Systems for the Enterprise

ATLANTA — April 23, 2010 — Tom Noonan, the former co-founder and CEO of Internet Security Systems (ISS), which was acquired by IBM for $1.5 billion, is returning to his high-tech roots today as he becomes president and CEO at JouleX, a Green IT company specializing in sustainable energy management systems for the enterprise.

Noonan, who has been actively involved with the incubation of JouleX, is an operating partner in the Atlanta-based venture capital firm, TechOperators. The firm led the due diligence efforts that culminated in this month’s seed capital funding in JouleX, with TechOperators and Target Partners, based in Munich, Germany, making the investment.

Noonan will be responsible for guiding the next generation of corporate energy management leveraging JouleX’s groundbreaking technology. Noonan is leading the charge to change the way companies manage energy and help them become more energy efficient. This charge is reminiscent of how he and his previous company, ISS, changed the way companies viewed Internet security.

“At TechOperators, we have been looking for companies to invest in that will be global game-changers,” explained Noonan. “The JouleX technology is capable of completely transforming the Green IT space. JouleX will do for energy management what ISS did for Internet security…something the world has not yet seen.”

JouleX’s technology reduces energy costs by monitoring, analyzing and managing energy usage for all network connected devices and systems without the use of costly software or device agents. JouleX is the first company to provide “agentless” network technology that monitors energy consumption, analyzes energy usage, and provides automated ways to manage the reduction of energy consumption and save significant costs.

“At $7 trillion annually, the global energy industry is ripe for innovation,” said Noonan. “Energy conservation through efficiency is pivotal to saving energy costs and protecting the environment – and with JouleX, reductions in energy usage by as much as 60 percent are possible. Corporations can now measure enterprise energy consumption and control energy waste across all of their office IT networks, data centers and building management systems.”

JouleX is privileged to have at its helm a renowned business entrepreneur with an impeccable track record of turning start-ups into successful, global companies,” said Josef Brunner and Rene Seeber, co-founders of JouleX. “Tom is a tremendous asset and we look forward to his leadership and guidance as we continue to grow our company and technology.”

Noonan’s management style and vision have been widely recognized by industry-leading publications including Forbes, Business Week and Fortune. In 1999, Ernst and Young recognized him as “Entrepreneur of the Year.” Additionally, he was appointed to the National Infrastructure Advisory Council by President Bush and continues to serve the White House in this important role, and has also delivered keynote addresses at several G8 Summits. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech and a Business degree from Harvard University.
